What to bring for your Mile

  • Your individual Mile number, plus safety pins to attach it (you won’t be able to take part without it).
  • Your wave time (which is emailed to you, and can also be found in your sponsorship kit).
  • Dress the part. Wear comfortable clothes and trainers.
  • Bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated and some snacks to keep you going.
  • Travel light. There isn’t any baggage storage so only bring what you need, including a bit of cash.
  • Don't forget to bag some last minute sponsors to spur you on on the big day. Log in to your giving page.

Getting to the event

  • Plan your journey to and from the Mile in advance! We’d advise you to take public transport to the event where possible. Please arrive 30 minutes before your wave start time to allow you enough time to get to the start line in Custom House Square.

On the day

  • Our Event Village is open from 9:00-13:00 and will have a packed programme of entertainment and activities for all the family to enjoy, so make sure you don't leave without stopping by. Highlights include sport tasters provided by Better and a performance by Just Adam. And last but not least, don't forget to invite all your friends and family to come along and cheer you on.
  • Travel light. There aren’t any lockers so only bring what you need.
  • Water will be provided at the start and finish lines, as well as along the Mile route.

What to bring for your Swimathon

Here’s a quick checklist of things to remember so that everything goes swimmingly:

  • Your session time (which is emailed to you, and can also be found in your sponsorship kit).
  • Bring all the essentials, like goggles, a towel and swimwear.
  • Don’t forget about your free Swimathon swimming cap, which you can collect at your event or, if you’re doing SimplySwim, it will arrive in the post.
  • Bring a bottle of water and some snacks to keep you going.
  • If you’re swimming against the clock, bring something to time yourself.
  • Don't forget to bag some last minute sponsors to spur you on on the big day. Log in to your giving page.
  • Last, but not least, why not bring some friends and family for a bit of poolside support?

Getting to the event

  • Swimathon will be taking place at Queens University PEC, Botanic Park, Belfast BT9 5EX and there is limited parking available but if possible please use public transport to get to the event.

On the day

Swimathon Colour Campaign

  • All Swimathon participants will be allocated a specific hat colour for their swim which they will be notified of via email from 26th February.
  • Participants are encouraged to cheer on and embrace their hat colour as a team – Team red / blue / yellow / green / black / white / pink / orange.
  • All teams will be competing for a place in Swimathon's history as the first to swim the fastest K's, raise the highest amount of fundraising or achieve the longest overall distances. The Swimathon website will turn itself into the hub where live scoreboards tracking each team’s average times, total distances and much more will be shown.
  • There are tons of ways you can show your team colours and support your fellow team swimmers. Share your latest training tips, or shout out to the rest of your team when in need of some last minute motivation
  • Start virtually cheering on your team mates today via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

What to bring for your Cycle

  • Make sure that you have everything you’ll need for your ride including your helmet and Cycle number (you can’t take part without it), and some safety pins to attach it. If your number hasn’t arrived or you’ve misplaced it, you’ll be able to pick up a new one at the event.

  • Dress the part. Wear comfortable clothes and trainers.
  • Bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated and some snacks to keep you going.

We’d advise you to take public transport to the event where possible. Please arrive 30 minutes before your wave start time to allow you enough time to find the start line at your event.
