Determined Davina saddles up for day five

12th February 2014

Determined Davina McCall continues to go the extra mile for Sport Relief as she strives to cycle from Edale to Birmingham today.

It comes after four punishing days of the BT Sport Relief Challenge: Davina - Beyond Breaking Point, a seven day ordeal which is witnissing the 46-year-old attempt to run, swim and cycle over 500 miles from Edinburgh to London - entirely under her own steam.

So far the brave, exhausted, but still-smiling Davina has cycled in horrific weather conditions which left her with signs of hypothermia, braved a blizzard whilst scaling the colossal Scafell Pike on foot and used every ounce of strength she could muster to combat her fear of swimming in open water by crossing the freezing Lake Windermere.

After another gruelling day of cycling and running yesterday, Davina needs to give everything she’s got to day five which will see her take to the bike once more, despite saddle sores and exhaustion to overcome.

She’s putting herself to the test to raise much-needed cash for Sport Relief – please sponsor her and spur her on!

She’s also hoping that it will inspire the nation to go the extra mile themselves and take part in one of over 1,000 events taking place across the UK for Sport Relief 2014. Find your nearest event and enter now.

The public has been coming out in force to cheer Davina on.  If you’d like to help wave her along en route, Davina will be in the following places today (Wednesday  12th February):

  • Edale (setting off at 9.10)
  • Ashburne
  • Burton on Trent
  • Lichfield
  • Birmingham (arriving between 18.00 and 19.00)
