Mark “rowed” to the challenge for Sport Relief

Despite being a rowing novice, Mark from London didn’t hold back – he rowed the entire length of the English Channel on a rowing machine in the comfort of his own home! Mark raised an incredible £1,056 from his fantastic feat – which could pay for 880 children in Zambia to get life-saving malaria medicine, so they have every chance of making a full recovery.

Sue-perb fundraising!

Last Sport Relief, Sue from Walsall combined her love for her footie team with her dedication to Sport Relief by walking around her club’s pitch, wearing a pair of the superb Sport Relief socks! She clocked up an impressive 25 miles in total and raised a brilliant £301– which could pay for a teacher to work with more than 70 street children in Bangladesh for six whole months.

Iain battled his buddies for Sport Relief

Football fanatic Iain loves a bit of friendly rivalry. So last Sport Relief, he got his mates together to hold a derby between Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United fans – and raised over £270! That's all it takes to pay for every child in a primary school in Liberia to have a text book, so they can get the education they need to escape the poverty they face.

Go large and get everyone you know, and some people you don't, to take part in a group sporting activity! Challenge your entire gym, school or office to do a physical activity en masse - like a huge skipping or hula hoop challenge - or organise a massive aerobics class in your town square or shopping centre. Just remember to get them all to pay to play.

That cash could pay for one year’s training which a child living on the streets in Kenya needs to work their way out of poverty once and for all.

Anna's cycle for change

Anna from London got on her bike, and cycled an exhausting 8 miles to and from work every day for a week to raise cash for Sport Relief. She didn’t just do herself the world of good, she raised an incredible £1,468! That amazing sum could pay for two months’ counselling for 70 girls in Brazil who have been exploited in the sex trade.

All in a day’s work

The whole company at Red Lorry Yellow Lorry in London took a break from the 9-5, and held a special quiz to raise cash for Sport Relief. They raised a massive £328 which could pay for 450 women in Ethiopia to get the book-keeping materials they need to run a small business, so they can support their families and work their way out of poverty.

Jon "rode" to the challenge for Sport Relief

Inspired by Adrian Chiles and Alan Shearer’s Super Cycle between football clubs in the UK, Jon got on his bike and cycled 95 miles to the Hawthornes Football Ground, pedalling his way to an impressive £1,326 total! In Africa, his cash could pay for mosquito nets to protect 265 mothers and their babies from contracting life-threatening malaria while they sleep.

Kate jumped to it for Sport Relief

Cardiff University student and keen trampolinist, Kate, jumped at the chance to do a 10-hour sponsored bounce for Sport Relief in 2008. After putting in plenty of practice at home on her bed, she raised £41 from her energetic challenge. That money could pay for 100 bars of soap which street children in Brazil can use to keep clean and free from disease.
