Bingo Boccia - develops coordination in throwing
Resources: Boccia balls and suitable targets
- Whole Class

- Indoor
- Place 4 targets on the floor with the letters M-I-L-E marked on them. The targets should be at least the size of an A2 (2xA3) piece of paper.
- Play the game with 2-4 players per side
- Players in a team must work together to try to land the ball on each of the targets, taking throws in turn
- When one side lands a ball on each of the four targets, they shout "BINGO, we made a mile!"
- This could be adapted and played with bean bags with primary age students if the targets were a suitable size to give success

Boccia Ballistic - to develop throwing skills and coordination
Resources: Size 3-4 footballs; safety markers

- Divide students into groups of 8
- Mark lines 5, 8 and 10m from a throwing line
- Players take it in turns to throw as far as they can
- Add up individual players’ total distance and also keep a total for the group
- Call out when the players throw a mile
- This could be adapted and played with bean bags with primary age students

Mean mile machine - fun wheelchair activity to develop coordination
Resources: Safety markers
- Small Group
- Indoor
- Set up a wheelchair slalom with one box into which the students need to reverse.
- Make the course 10m. long to the end of the course and back again to complete
- Each wheelchair user goes there and back completing 20m
- The box must be reversed into at least once
- Work as a group until a mile has been completed (88 repetitions)
- If there are only one or two wheelchair users in the school, non-disabled students could also take part

Eyeshade parade - For small groups of visually impaired students or sighted students wearing eyeshades, to develop coordination
Resources: Safety markers; Goalballs or Jingle balls
- Small Group
- Indoor
- Mark out a square 10m x 10m
- In groups of 8 with two players (wearing eyeshades) at each corner of the square
- Players roll a goalball or jingle ball along one side of the square passing the ball to another player to continue
- Start with one ball and then gradually increase the number of balls according to the skill level
- Play until players have passed the ball or balls for one mile
- This could be adapted for wheelchair users by allowing them to pass the ball in an appropriate way, either by carrying the ball on the lap or by using the hand or chair to move the ball

Sitting Volleyball - small groups of disabled and non-disabled students can play this volleyball activity to help develop coordination and net game skills
Resources: Mini tennis net and soft volleyballs

- Form in teams of 3 or 4
- Both teams sit down on their own side of the net
- Play a game of volleyball, allowing three touches per side
- Winner is the first to score 7 points
- Another version can be played with different groups competing against each other to see who can keep the ball in the air the longest.

Mile on a table - Polybat activity to develop coordination and aiming skills
Resources: Table tennis table; Polybat or table cricket sides to the table; bats; targets
- Individuals or Small Groups
- Indoor
- Make four targets using plastic cups or something bigger if appropriate
- Mark the letters M-I-L-E on the targets
- Players have to hit the four letters to make a mile or players have to hit the letters in order to make the task harder

Floor footy - football type activity to develop coordination and aiming skills
Resources: Benches and a soft ball
- Small Group
- Indoor
- Place two benches approximately 1m apart
- The benches should be placed on their sides with the tops facing inwards
- Players lie on their fronts, one at each end of the benches
- Players hit the ball with their hands
- Each player tries to score a goal by getting their ball past the other player
or - Players try to pass the ball to each other as many times as they can in one minute.
