The whole of the UK took to the streets on Sunday to do the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile and what a day it was! Check out the live Mile updates below to find out what happened where.

17:35 As the last Milers cross the finishing line, all that's left to say is a huge, huge thank you to everyone who has braved the cold, wet and windy weather to go the distance at a Sport Relief Mile today - you have been absolutely brilliant and a real inspiration.

All the money raised this weekend will go to help people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries so you’ve done a fantastic thing by fundraising, donating or getting sponsored to take part.

Just remember to pay in the money you’ve raised as soon as you can so we can start spending it to change lives! Until next time...thank you, thank you, thank you!

17:03 Nottingham has pulled out all the stops for Sport Relief too and 30 people from YMCA Nottingham are running a Mile because they know first hand how important this campaign is – Sport Relief has supported them to help people turn their lives around for the past 2 years. Now they want to give something back. If you want to make a difference – you can make a donation on this site – it’s not too late!

16:49 Congratulations Patsy in Edinburgh! The wonderful 82 year old has done the Mile with her son, proving that The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is open to everyone - from great grandchildren to even greater grandmas!

16:45 Sticking with The Manchester Mile, three incredible girls, Emily, 13, Chloe,12, and Beth, 12, raised £300 for doing back-flips in pink leotards the whole way round! Well done girls – what an achievement!

16:33 Soapstar Superstar winner Richard Fleeshman achieved his personal best at the Manchester Mile getting a phenomenal time of just 5 minutes, 40 seconds! Meanwhile, Coronation Street actress, Brooke Vincent said ‘it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I found it a real challenge but I got there in the end! I’m really glad I took part – it’s a brilliant cause.’

16:25 In Birmingham, Denise Lewis said ‘It’s been really fantastic to see so many people taking to the streets here to run the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile. It’s great that people are raising money for such a great cause by getting active.’

16:19 After Wales’ grand slam victory in the RBS Six Nations yesterday, who better to take part in the Cardiff Mile than Welsh rugby stars JJ Williams and Ieuan Evans? They’re just about to set off.

16:12 Back in London, hundreds of kids are joining Children’s TV hero Sportacus to do their Mile. It’s a long way from LazyTown but well worth the trip! And all Connie Fisher can hear is The Sound of Milers as she makes her way round with Colin Jackson too.

15:30 Swimming legend Duncan Goodhew has just blown the starters horn in Plymouth marking the last wave there – the Milers are giving it their all.

15:19 Meanwhile, in Cardiff, Jonathan Davies has joined the Milers saying ‘It’s fantastic to see so many people in Cardiff braving the cold to do their bit for such a good cause. This is what makes Britain great.'

15:16 Dame Kelly Holmes has started the fifth London wave which sees Sport Relief champion James Cracknell go the distance once more alongside Lord Seb Coe and thousands of brilliant Milers.

15:04 Davina has done her 6 Miles in London and says ‘it was so exhilarating - I got such a buzz going round and all the support the crowd gave me along the way made me think I wanted to do it all over again! Even in the rain – it’s real Dunkirk Spirit. It’s just amazing!'

15:02 Top sporting heroes, Sharon Davies, Denise Lewis and Jamie Baulch are telling Milers in Plymouth, Birmingham and Cardiff to run like the wind (of which there is a lot!) as they give them their starting orders.

14:50 Steve Bull is about to start the second wave in Birmingham and The Flinstones, Superman and Batman are running too – what a load of superheroes!

14:43 The first person has just crossed the finish line in Manchester completing the Mile in just 5 minutes and 16 seconds – young Matt Edgar from Ramsbottom pegged it round the course, leaving his mum, dad and brother to trail along behind him! Well done Matt – nice work.

14:30 Another incredible fundraiser in Edinburgh is 2 year old Cameron Clarke – he’s just done his one Mile challenge and raised a flippin-fantastic £160!

14:15 Toby Anstis, Tim Lovejoy, Dick and Dom and 1Xtra’s Zena are in the starting line up for the third Mile wave in the heart of London. Go, Go Go!

14:14 In Milton Keynes a group of fireman have done their one mile in uniform (easy ladies!) whilst carrying a ladder and a load of lovely blokes have done theirs dressed up as nuns – any excuse!

14:03 The Lord Mayor has just got the Plymouth Mile underway with the Cardiff and Manchester Miles following suit. It’s all going on…

14:00 The Jameson family are at the Edinburgh Mile and little Caitlin, 9, and Ray, 3, have raised £200 in sponsorship for taking part in the one Mile challenge. Absolutely brilliant!

13:50 The second London wave sees mayor hopeful Boris Johnson, WAG Alex Best and chef Nancy Lam get in on the action – they’re running alongside an inflatable banana, Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie and a samba band playing at the back. You really do see it all at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile!

13:33 Well done Brighton – the last wave has set off and they’ve all been amazing! If they’re quick they might even make it home in time to watch themselves in action on the Mile Show on BBC ONE at 3pm.

13:17 Chris and Marie-Louise are running 6 Miles in Edinburgh today with their beautiful baby Archie and they’ve raised a whopping £618 in sponsorship! 13:00 And the London Mile has just begun! Braving the wind, rain and chilly weather, the capital city is awash with Milers after Davina McCall has blown the starting horn!

12:52 Mum Helen and her two boys Leo and Kai (fantastically dressed as Sportacus and Mr. Incredible) are having a wail of a time in Glasgow right now! Little Leo has recently recovered from an operation on his heart but he’s determined to do a Mile today. Together they’ve raised £120 for Sport Relief. What an inspiration!

12:46 Norman Cooke (AKA Fat Boy Slim) is at the Brighton Mile today for the third consecutive Sport Relief campaign. This time he’s pulled out all the stops and ran a brilliant three miles in just under half an hour. With the atmosphere pumping and the crowds cheering, he’s right at home!

12:28 The king of darts, Bobby George, is in Ipswich getting everyone going for Sport Relief – he said ‘it’s a great day and it good to see so many people taking part. Now all everyone needs to do is remember to send in their bees and honey.’ (That’s money to any non-cockneys out there!)

12:03 Just when you thought it was safe to do the Mile in Brighton & Hove… Sid The Shark is joining the second wave of Milers as Athletic legend, Sally Gunnell braves the wind to give them all their starting orders.

11:52 From 78 years young to 10 months old - baby Logan’s all set to be pushed around the route in Gateshead with his runner number on show. He hasn’t slept in weeks but the excitement has got the better of him so he’s now having a little snooze before he sets off – As you can imagine, Mum’s very happy indeed!

11:45 News just in – 78 year old Earl Fee has finished his Mile in Belfast in an incredible five minutes, 58 seconds – smashing the world record for his age!

11:33 Just like her co-host of The One Show, presenter Christine Bleakley has taken on a challenge for Sport Relief. Right now she’s running a Mile alongside hundreds of Belfast Milers.

11:20 As the Ipswich Mile gets going, an amazing 12 year old lad called Jordan has donated the £500 prize he won when he was crowned Sainsbury’s Sporting Champion of Yorkshire this year. The tumbling gymnast is the number one in the UK for his age and is donating his winnings to make a difference to poor and disadvantaged young people at home and around the world – what a superstar!

11:10 Across the country right now a staggering amount of people are doing their Mile in style! Bristol, Brighton & Hove, Glasgow and Milton Keynes Milers are making headway with the help of the cast of Casualty, the famous Dragon Theo Paphitis, Yvonne Murray and Lee McConnell.

10:40 Milers in Swansea, Nottingham, Gateshead and Southampton have all set off! Even Swansea City FC’s Mascot, Cyril the Swan, is making his way round the route right now.

10:35 It’s a good job that the people of the North East don’t mind braving the cold despite being scantily clad! They’re doing their Bannatyne’s warm up in Gateshead right now in the freezing cold but that hasn’t stopped them turning up in shorts!

10:30 5Live presenter, Stephen Nolan has set off with Belfast’s finest for their first Sport Relief Mile – believe it or not, the sun’s even shinning! Hurrah!

10:15 Tanni Grey-Thompson has just given the Middlesbrough Milers their starting orders and Steve Cram is going the distance now alongside them!

10:05 And it's another great start in Sheffield with their first wave setting off to go the distance on this wonderful Sport Relief Sunday.

10:00 Snooker legend John Parrott has just given the Liverpool Milers their cue to run, run, run their three or six miles and they're making great progress so far.

9:30 Come on Coventry! The Lord Mayor has just started the first wave and Titan the Robot is stealing the show. The milers are making their way around the route to raise much needed cash for Sport Relief.

9:10 It may be cold, wet and windy in Coventry but since when has that ever stopped the Brits from rising to the challenge?! Right now, they're out in force warming up to do one, three or six miles and spirits are running high.

9:00 And they're off! Despite the pouring rain, excitement has filled the crowds as they wave off the first Milers of the day.

Even the Norwich City mascot wasn't put off by the weather - he's joined by some Royal Marines and a storm trooper to run in the first wave of 2008. Go Norwich!

8:55 Any minute now the first Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile of 2008 will get underway in Norwich!
