Just because the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile is happening on a Sunday is no reason for schools to miss out on all the fun!
Why not challenge students to do a Mile in your school playground on Friday 19th March?
Complete a Mile in a unique way – running backwards, hopping, swimming, cycling, juggling, doing a Mile on a unicycle or even while dribbling a ball?! Make sure you get sponsored first and the cash will soon start rolling in for Sport Relief!
Those budding sports stars will need refreshments, so why not sell drinks and healthy snacks to keep everybody going and to help push your fundraising up a notch?
Organise a non-stop game of football - which lasts for a whole day! The match could start right after assembly and you could ask your headteacher if different classes could take over during their PE lessons. The teams can change but you need to keep the game going!
Use this idea with any sport you enjoy – netball, swimming, hockey, cricket, or even tiddlywinks! Just get all the students to pay to play, or get sponsored by friends and family to keep the match going!
Inspired by David Walliams who swam the English Channel in 2006, Parkfield High got sponsored and raised money for Sport Relief in 2008 by collectively swimming the equivalent distance of the English Channel in their school swimming pool – a whopping 1,456 lengths!
Why not come up with your own version of a big idea? How about getting each class to run the marathon distance of 26 miles around the school playing field between them? Get sponsored and your big idea will raise big bucks for Sport Relief!
