Rolling pins at the ready – BBC2’s hit show ‘The Great British Bake Off’ is back this January for a Sport Relief special as twelve well-known faces from across the BBC enter the Bake Off tent, all in the name of charity.
Presented by Mel Giedroyc and judged, as usual, by master baker Paul Hollywood and the queen of cookery, Mary Berry, twelve celebrity bakers compete over four piping-hot heats for a place in the grand final.
The celebrity bakers include Arlene Phillips, Angela Griffin, Alex Deakin , Anita Rani, Alexander Langlands, Fi Glover, Gus Casely-Hayford, James Wong, Joe Swift, Pearl Lowe, Saira Khan and Sarah Hadland – and the competition is set to be as stiff as their home-made meringues.
Actress and presenter Angela Griffin admitted: “I’m a huge fan of The Great British Bake Off, so to be involved in this Sport Relief special was a huge honour – although very stressful! I really enjoy baking at home, but doing it under the watchful eye of Mary and Paul was quite scary.”
Not only will ‘The Great Sport Relief Bake Off’ see the famous contestants work their sponge fingers to the bone, it will also inspire the nation to host their own bake sale to raise money for Sport Relief 2012.
To see who really takes the biscuit and gets crowned the winner in the tastiest televised completion around, tune into BBC2 this January.
