The One SHow challenge terms and conditions

Your application (“Application”) is to be a participant in our “Mother of all Challenges” challenge (“the Challenge”) which Charity Projects, trading as Comic Relief (“Producer” “We” “Us”) plans to make, have made or incorporated into television programme (s) (the Programmes), noting that we do not commit to produce such Programmes.   By submitting your Application you confirm that you satisfy our Eligibility Requirements (set out below) and that you agree to these terms and conditions.

Phase One means this Application process

Phase Two means the selection procedure we will apply to further consider suitability to participate in the Programme (with this extending to additional phases of assessment at our discretion and ultimately our selection of participants).  

Eligibility Requirements

By submitting this Application, you confirm:

  • You are a mother (by which we mean an individual who has had their own children, adopted, fostered or otherwise experienced motherhood) and that the information you have included in your application (including your experiences of motherhood) is true.  
  • You are 18 years or age or over.  
  • You have the right to live and work in the UK.  
  • You have a current, valid, passport that enables you to travel on an unrestricted basis.
  • You (or any close family member) are not an employee of or otherwise associated with the Producer or the BBC.
  • You are available on short notice on the dates we require and not subject to any contractual or other restriction which would prevent or restrict your participation.
  • You understand that the Challenge will be physically and mentally demanding and that you will need to be in a sufficiently robust state of physical and mental health in order to participate.  We would stress that all applications who believe that they meet this criteria, including people with disabilities, are welcomed and encouraged to apply. 

If you are selected for Phase Two, you acknowledge and agree:

  • We will require you to provide documentary proof to satisfy these Eligibility Requirements (for example, your passport to evidence age and ability to travel).
  • You may be required to undergo a medical examination by a qualified medical professional in order to confirm that you meet all physical and psychological requirements.
  • You may be required to commit to a rigorous training regime between December 2017 and March 2018.
  • You may be required to participate in the Challenge (which will take place in March 2018) and also participate in any activities as relate to the Challenge. 
  • You may be required to travel (including if selected for Phase 2 and beyond, to travel overseas).  We will pay your reasonable travel expenses (as agreed with you).
  • An assessment of your suitability for Phase Two and any subsequent participation may be filmed and may then be used in the Programme (or otherwise).
  • If requested by us, you will disclose details of any criminal convictions and/or unspent convictions (other than driving offences which have not resulted in a ban or more serious sentence) and will advise us immediately if, at any time after you have been selected to participate in phase two or later phases, if you any criminal charges are brought or threatened to be brought against you.
  • We may undertake our own background checks 

We may change these Eligibility Requirements at any time in our sole discretion

Our Decision

We reserve sole discretion to make all decisions in relation to the Programme and participation in the Programme, including, but not by limitation, the decision as to which applications will be accepted for Phase Two and which of those applications are then selected to take part in the Programme.  All of our decisions will be final and binding.  We also reserve the right at any point after an Application has been received to remove or disqualify you at our sole discretion. 

Selection for Phase Two

If we select you for Phase Two and for all subsequent involvement, you will be required to enter additional legal binding documents, which will include a non-disclosure agreement, a release as to filming and a contract setting out the terms and conditions of your participation in the Programme.  Please note that, as part of the Challenge, you may be required to travel overseas.

These terms and conditions are subject to our conditions of use.  Please note in particular the conditions as relate to your contributions to our website, our rights to use your contributions and our limitations of liability.

We intend that this Application process will work efficiently, although please do note that we provide our website on an “as is” basis and do not guarantee that our website will operate free of errors or defects.  We may suspend our website at any time.  If you are experiencing any difficulties submitting an application, you can contact us at events@sportrelief.com.  We do not accept any liability for any unavailability of our website or any failure to receive or process your Application or to invite you to Phase Two.   

The closing date for applications is 23:59 on the 30th November 2017, although we reserve the right to suspend, close of extend this Application process at our discretion.    

We own all intellectual property in our website and we do not grant any licence of such intellectual property to any third party.  By submitting your application, you grant us and our licensees the permission to use, edit and modify the information in the Application (and to process it in accordance with our Data Privacy Statement below).

You confirm that by submitting your application, you have read these terms and conditions, you satisfy the Eligibility Requirements and all information you have provided (or do provide) will be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading (acknowledging that we may disqualify you should you be in breach of this requirement.

We take our obligations to respect and protect your data seriously.  We’ll keep your data safe, we won’t sell it, and we won’t use it for marketing to you. We will use the information you provide to us to assess your Application.  If we select you for Phase Two, you acknowledge and agree that any of the information you provide which is not of a sensitive nature may be used in connection with the production and promotion of this Programme.  By submitting your Application, you consent to any information you provide, including any sensitive information, being used for these purposes.  We may use this information to verify age and to carry out background checks (including with law enforcement and government agencies).  We may share your information with third parties, including the BBC, as part of the selection process and in connection with the production and promotion of the Programme.  Please see our privacy policy for more information as to how we will safeguard your data.
