This Sport Relief, BBC TV and radio presenters have taken on their very own challenges to contribute to the nation’s billion steps total. From climbing peaks to trying out Tai Chi, presenters across the country are going the extra mile to raise money and help vulnerable people in the UK and across the world lead healthier, happier and safer lives.
BBC Look North’s presenting team gathered all their strength to haul the studio sofa more than 100 miles across 50 iconic locations around Yorkshire, meeting viewers and raising funds along the way.
Elsewhere, in the North East, presenter Jeff Brown unleashed the forces of yin and yang, challenging himself to a Tai Chi masterclass. Elderly service users at St. Martins Centre, a local project funded by Sport Relief cash, put him through his paces.
Funded projects across the North West have also been offering a hand in helping presenters to reach their goals. The Proud Trust, Genie in the Gutter and Salford Lads Club laced up their walking boots and joined presenters from BBC North West Tonight on a bitterly cold hike up Scafell Pike.
One final challenge for the North of the country is still to come this week. Despite never having been behind the oars before, Look North’s presenter Peter Levy will be kayaking across the Humber.
