New fund to improve lives of homeless young people

A surfing project funded by Sport Relief

Today Comic Relief has announced the launch of a new fund which aims to improve the lives of homeless young people in the UK and across the world.

Homelessness continues to have a devastating impact in the UK and across the world. In Britain, an estimated 128,000 children are homeless or living in temporary accommodation, many of whom go unseen, spending the night on buses, on sofas, or in the homes of strangers.

‘Safe, Secure, Settled’ will invest £4 million in organisations using sport to help young people without a safe or secure place to live gain the vital skills and resources they need to lead safe and positive lives.

The fund is part of Comic Relief’s ‘Sport for Change’ programme which, over the past ten years, has funded hundreds of projects using sport as a powerful tool for social change.

Grants of between £100,000 and £500,000 will be available to support life-changing projects in the UK, India, South Africa, Brazil and Kenya that support homeless young people into positive and independent living.
